Mailbag O’ Miroki

It was cold enough for Delton to wear his new hat today!
I bought this hat at the “Steve & Barry’s is going out of business because they classified $30 million in lease incentives as cash and their investors weren’t very happy with that” Sale and I noticed today that I almost always buy him clothing that is red. I bought that shirt too. What does that say about my psyche? Do I like blood?

Delton is already learning to be cool.
As soon as he can stop slobbering all over his shirt, he might get a girlfriend. Well, let’s be realistic, it never got in the way for me! Also, I know that December is easily a good month because there is a little holiday called Christmas involved but there are many other things about Christmas that are noteworthy, including: Cold weather; Football and basketball games on just about every night of the week; Bowl games; Snacks and gifts of candy, and End of year compilation lists of all kinds. So, when Blender and All Songs Considered by NPR release their best albums of 2008 lists, I can go back and see what I’ve missed (Music, that’s how this incoherent rambling applies to that picture. That’s an iPod in Delton’s hand.)
People always ask me, “How’s D-Money?” or “How’s the little man?” or any other various assorted forms of such questions. How are you supposed to answer that? I usually say, “he’s fine” and try to give a funny anecdote like “He ate yogurt for breakfast” or something.
Then a thought occurred to me, I haven’t given a real Delton update on here in quite some time. So, now is your chance to ask any question about Delton that you want.
For example,
Q: How is Delton these days?
A: He’s fine. He is walking around real well and he is getting to a phase where he does more than eat, sleep and constantly need a diaper change.
Q: What is Delton’s favorite activity?
A: Much like his father, his favorite activity is noises and generic tomfoolery. He loves to go out on the back porch with the dogs and make noises as loud as possible. Another of our favorite times is picking him up from school because we can walk out in the atrium and if no one else is there, we will have a contest to see who can make the loudest echo. That’s just fun for everyone!
However, in a sneak peek style, I think Delton’s favorite activity for 2009 is going to be climbing. He’s learning how to climb on everything. His little Lego table makes for hours of climbing fun but he also climbed on top of a box last night and pretended to ride it like a horse. The squeals and giggles were audible through the entire house.
Q: Does Delton like sports?
A: Of course he likes sports, clown! I mean, he doesn’t really know what sports are per se but he sure does like balls. We went to Academy on Saturday and he got a ball (two of them in fact, when Dad picked one he liked but then found another one that had lights in it and it was obvious that putting one back was going to cause someone to scream loudly. I’ll give you one guess who. Whatever, it was only 87 cents each). After he got the ball, he went through Academy throwing it and yelling “BALL” for about 5 minutes. But then people saw him and said, “Aww, wook at da widdle baby! So Cute!” and then it was all better
Now, it’s your turn! Leave any question you want to ask in the comments or email me and I’ll update the mailbag later this week!
(I have no idea what the Mary Hardin Baylor Crusaders say at their games but Aunt Dootsey (Jen) is an MHB graduate and she is very proud of her Crusaders.)
