One Important Question

with 3 comments

Something that I have not seen on ANY emergency preparation lists but should absolutely be included is this one simple question: Would you take your child camping? If not, you need to evacuate from the storm area. Because after the power went out, our activities consisted of the same things as a camping trip, only if it rained during your trip.

Therefore, since I would not take Delton on a camping trip. We evacuated after the storm passed. In hindsight, we should have been on the first train out of town. But then again, there are very few trains leaving town anymore and this is quite honestly a gigantic burr under my saddle. All I want to do is watch the pastoral countryside from a slow moving train but it is just not available.

Now, for the first and hopefully last ever Phelps Family Camping Trip, caused by and sponsored by The Hurricane.

One positive note was a swimming outing at Aunt Rachelle and Uncle Trav’s.

The after effects of the storm. One newspaper author said her yard “looked like a tossed salad”. This doesn’t look like any salad I would eat. There seems to be a lot of dirt in it.

Delton is all packed up and ready to roll!

The family gets ready for bedtime. Notice the three dawgs who got to come along for the trip. There is a reason they are never invited on family trips. They are the worst travelers of all time.

 Delton and Zoey hangin’ out

The Four Babies want their mama!

Normally, sleeping on the couch or with the dogs is intended as a punishment for bad little boys. However, there was A/C here and electricity so I wasn’t complaining.

Daddy swimmin’ with Zoey and Delton.

As expected, Delton has no fear of water. He would just stick his face right in. No worries at all.

Delton catching a little of the action on Saturday before we fled the scene.

”The Scene’. I was trying to show how much water there was. You can kind of see the river running down our street. I have never seen it get that high before. MYSTERIOSO!!!

What About The Boy?

Just so people know, we are alive and kickin’ after our Hurricane last weekend. There will be a full update ASAP but for now there is no school for D-Money during the days so I have been spending all my time watching him destroy our house.
